The journey

The Lofoten Islands are more than just a destination to tick off a map. They are a place that leaves a lasting impression. An archipelago where dramatic mountains rise straight from the ocean, fjords cut through the landscape and fishing villages still preserve their authentic character.
This 8-day journey begins in Evenes and follows a natural route from north to south, crossing the Vesterålen Islands and some of the most beautiful areas of Northern Norway. Along the way, we will reach Andenes, where a whale safari offers the opportunity to spot sperm whales and other cetaceans in their natural environment. Sightings are not guaranteed and depend on sea conditions.
We enter the Lofoten archipelago by sea, taking the ferry from Melbu to Fiskebøl. From here, we explore spectacular landscapes, beaches such as Haukland, fishing villages such as Reine and Hamnøy, and the traditional red rorbuer cabins overlooking the ocean.
The journey continues to Å, the southernmost village in the archipelago, where the road comes to an end. Here, we will also experience an overnight stay in a traditional rorbuer, surrounded by the atmosphere of an old fishing village.
The tour is designed for small groups, with an English-speaking tour leader throughout the journey. The itinerary remains flexible to accommodate weather conditions and daylight, allowing us to enjoy each day at a relaxed pace.
Summer in the Lofoten Islands means exceptionally long days, generally mild temperatures and a unique light that transforms the landscape throughout the day. The weather can be unpredictable, but this is part of the region's authentic character.
A journey for those who want to discover Northern Norway through its landscapes, traditions and small fishing villages, away from conventional mass-tourism routes.

Day by day itinerary

Depart in the morning for Evenes, the main gateway to the Lofoten Islands. Upon arrival in the evening, transfer to our first accommodation near the airport. A quiet first night to rest and prepare for the journey through the archipelago, which begins the following day.

After breakfast, we will visit Adolfkanonen, one of the largest coastal guns ever installed in Europe during World War II, a remarkable site that tells a lesser-known part of local history.
In the early afternoon, we will explore some of the most scenic areas in the north, with short hikes among mountains rising directly from the sea. This is a rugged, less-visited region, far from the main tourist routes.
We will then continue north through increasingly open landscapes, reaching the island of Andøya and the village of Andenes, where we will spend the night before the following day's activities.

The day begins with a RIB boat whale safari, setting out in search of the whales that inhabit the waters of the North Atlantic. Just a few kilometres offshore, the seabed drops rapidly to great depths, creating favourable conditions for spotting cetaceans.
An experience in the open ocean, with the possibility of encountering sperm whales and other species in their natural environment. Every trip is different, and sightings are not guaranteed.
In the early afternoon, we will have free time to explore Andenes, a village overlooking a vast, rugged coastline that reveals a different side of Northern Norway.
In the late afternoon, we will continue towards Stokmarknes, an intermediate stop bringing us closer to the Lofoten Islands, which we will reach the following day.

In the morning, we will reach the harbour of Melbu and board the ferry to the Lofoten Islands. The crossing itself is a scenic experience: as we sail through the fjords, mountains begin to rise straight from the ocean, growing increasingly impressive as we approach the archipelago.
After arriving in Fiskebøl, we will begin exploring the north-eastern part of the islands, following scenic roads through fjords and small villages.
In the afternoon, we will reach Svolvær, the main town of the Lofoten Islands. We will have time to stroll around the harbour and get acquainted with the area. Svolvær will be our base for the explorations over the following days.

After breakfast, we will head towards the central part of the Lofoten Islands, exploring some of the archipelago's most iconic landscapes: towering mountains, deep fjords and breathtaking views over the ocean.
Throughout the day, we will visit traditional fishing villages, where the characteristic rorbuer cabins and historic wooden buildings still reflect the region's deep connection with the sea.
We will also enjoy walks along white sandy beaches, surrounded by dramatic mountains and striking contrasts of colour.
In the late afternoon, we will return to Svolvær after a day exploring some of the most representative landscapes of the Lofoten Islands.

We will leave Svolvær and travel through the most iconic part of the Lofoten Islands, following one of Norway's most spectacular scenic roads, surrounded by fjords, bridges and small fishing villages overlooking the ocean.
Along the way, we will make several stops, including Haukland Beach, famous for its pale sand and striking contrast between the sea and the surrounding mountains. We will have time for a walk and to enjoy one of the archipelago's most recognisable landscapes.
Continuing south, we will reach Å, the southernmost village in the Lofoten Islands, known as the «end of the road». A small and authentic place where life has always been closely connected to fishing and the sea.
In the evening, we will arrive in Sørvågen, where an included dinner and an overnight stay in a traditional rorbuer cabin await us, right in the heart of the southern Lofoten Islands.

The day will be dedicated to travelling back towards the northern part of the Lofoten Islands, following a scenic route through some of the archipelago's most beautiful landscapes once again.
Depending on the available time and weather conditions, we will make several stops along the way, revisiting familiar places from different perspectives and discovering spots we may have missed during the previous days.
A more relaxed day, allowing us to take in the surrounding scenery before reaching the airport area in the evening, where we will spend the night.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight home.
Our journey through the Lofoten Islands comes to an end, after a week surrounded by mountains rising from the sea, traditional fishing villages and unforgettable Northern landscapes.
