The Lofoten Islands, in northern Norway, form a spectacular archipelago where dramatic mountains meet the ocean, surrounded by fjords, sandy beaches and traditional fishing villages.
This 6-day journey explores the archipelago from north to south, combining wild landscapes, scenic viewpoints, short walks and traditional villages. We’ll discover local history and some of Norway’s most iconic scenery, ending in a picturesque fishing village where we’ll stay in a traditional rorbu, with dinner included.
The trip takes place in small groups, accompanied by an Italian-speaking guide, and is designed for travellers who enjoy nature, walking and discovering authentic places. No technical experience is required, but flexibility is essential due to the changeable weather conditions.
With Snap the North, you’ll discover the Lofoten Islands through a complete journey shaped by local knowledge rather than standardised itineraries.
Departure in the morning towards Evenes, the main gateway to the Lofoten Islands. After arriving in the evening, transfer to our accommodation near the airport for an overnight stay. A quiet evening to rest and prepare for exploring the archipelago, which begins the following day.
Today we’ll explore the northern part of the archipelago, known for its wild landscapes, fjords and spectacular views.
We’ll visit Adolfkanonen, an impressive coastal artillery installation from the Second World War and an important historical landmark in the region.
We’ll continue through scenic viewpoints and enjoy short walks, with opportunities to admire the Lofoten mountains and fjords from above. In the evening, we’ll travel towards the central part of the archipelago for our overnight stay.
We’ll explore the central part of the archipelago, surrounded by deep fjords, dramatic mountains and fishing villages featuring traditional rorbuer, the characteristic wooden cabins overlooking the sea.
Throughout the day, we’ll stop at scenic viewpoints and enjoy short walks, visiting some of the Lofoten Islands’ most beautiful beaches, where pale sand meets northern waters and mountains rise directly from the ocean.
In the afternoon, we’ll continue south for our overnight stay.
We’ll explore the most iconic part of the Lofoten Islands, following a spectacular scenic road through fjords, across bridges and past fishing villages overlooking the ocean.
Along the way, we’ll stop at Haukland Beach, famous for its pale sand and striking contrast between the sea and surrounding mountains. There will be time for a walk and to enjoy one of the archipelago’s most recognisable landscapes.
We’ll continue south to Å, the southernmost village in the Lofoten Islands, known as the “end of the road” and deeply rooted in fishing traditions.
In the evening, we’ll arrive in Sørvågen and settle into a traditional rorbu. Dinner is included, followed by an overnight stay.
We’ll travel north through the Lofoten Islands along a scenic route, passing once again through some of the archipelago’s most striking landscapes.
Depending on the time available and weather conditions, we’ll make several stops to enjoy different perspectives and discover places we may have missed earlier in the trip.
In the evening, we’ll reach the airport area for our overnight stay.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the return flight home. The journey through the Lofoten Islands comes to an end, leaving memories of dramatic mountains, fishing villages and unforgettable northern landscapes.
